Embrace

Tango without an embrace is not tango!
Not passion, not feet flapping, but embrace – that is the most important thing in the Argentine tango.
Tangeros embrace when they meet and say goodbye – and in this embrace joy splashes: “you are from my pack, I am glad to see you!

They embrace the whole dance, and this embrace is the essence of the dance. Intertwining of hands gives birth to a common “signaling system” that allows them to understand each other’s movements and weave the improvisational pattern of the tango.

And after the dance is over, a hug is a “thank you”, a way to express gratitude for those 12 minutes of dancing together. At that moment the warmth of your heart and tenderness to a sometimes complete stranger overwhelms you so much that here it is, perhaps, a sample of pure unconditional love for humanity…
